Jicho keeps a private, sealed photographic record of your watch. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect, where it lives and what we do with it. A lawyer has not reviewed this text yet; it says what we actually do.
What we collect
Your account: email address, first and last name, and the language you prefer.
Your watches: brand, model, and any details you choose to add (reference number, serial number, purchase date, description).
Your photos: the images you capture during a session, exactly as taken, plus the technical data embedded in them by your camera (date, device model, exposure settings).
Session context: the device and browser used for a capture session, the network origin, and the answers you give about environment and lighting.
What we use it for
To build and maintain your watch's Record: the sealed, dated history of captures that documents what is yours.
To develop Jicho's method for recognising an individual watch from its photos. Your images are part of the working dataset that makes this possible. They remain private, are never shared with other users, and are never used for anything other than building your Record and developing this method. This is the heart of the project and the reason the service exists.
To send you the emails the service needs: capture reminders and important account notices. Nothing else, no marketing lists.
Where your data lives
Everything is hosted in the European Union (Paris region). Photos are stored in private buckets: there is no public URL to any of your images.
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256).
We rely on a small set of providers to run the service: Supabase (database and storage, EU), Netlify (application hosting), Resend (email delivery), and Anthropic (an automated check that flags obviously inconsistent photos at upload). Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
What we never do
We do not sell your data. We do not share your photos or your identity with other users. Public verification pages show a watch's capture history and seals, never your name or serial number.
Your rights
You can ask at any time to access, correct, export or delete your data (GDPR). Write to contact@jicho.watch and we will act on it. Deleting your account removes your photos and personal details from the live service.
